A referendum on October 7, 2007 confirmed that Costa Ricans have officially decided on approving a free trade agreement with the United Status. The vote was close, just as everyone expected, with a margin of victory of just 4%. What this means for Costa Rica, according to the Yes campaign, are more jobs and more investment within the country by the United States. It also gives stability to the companies already stationed here such as HP, IBM and Proctor and Gamble.
This should also lend a helping hand to the tourism industry as further investment and more jobs can only help an already booming industry.
