Probably the best value for your buck among all of the all inclusive resorts in Costa Rica. Sol Papagayo Resort, located in Playa Panama, in Northern Guanacaste, is a 90 room hotel with limited amenities. The rooms are OK at best, and the entertainment is almost non existent. The food did pass our expectations, however they only served meals between three specific time zones. What I liked best about this hotel was the deal we got. We were able to stay at an all inclusive resort in Costa Rica for under $100 a night. For those who have been to Mexico, or Dominican Republic, this may sound expensive, but it certainly is a steal in Costa Rica.

Playa Panama itself has darker sand, and small waves. There is not good surfing in the area unless you take a boat across to Witch’s Rock, one of the country’s best surfing spots.
