Ocotal Beach is a small, 700 meter beach located on the Papagayo Gulf in northern Guanacaste in Costa Rica. The beach is a docking station for many boats in the region that specialize in fishing and scuba diving. Being one of the more popular scuba diving spots has had an influence on the area by convincing many hotels to locate there. Although none are directly on the beach, Ocotal beach Resort is the closest having its swimming pool area near the beach. Most hotels are located on a hill as the land surrounding Ocotal beach is far from flat.
Ocotal beach is located about 4 kilometers from Coco beach, the most popular beach in the area. There is not much nocturnal life due to the fact that only hotels inhabit the area. The road is paved and offers fairly easy access to those that have cars. As with most of the roads in Costa Rica, a 4X4 is the ideal choice for navigating the roads of Ocotal beach.
