Located in the province of Guanacaste between Tamarindo and Conchal is Langosta Beach. Although all beaches in Costa Rica are public beaches, sometimes they really are not easily accessible. This rings true for Langosta Beach.
Unless you take the ½ hr hike in the hot sun from Tamarindo or the even longer hike from the south, or you live on the beach then it really makes it difficult to enjoy the quietness and calmness of the beach. Your best bet for this beach is to stay at the Barcelo Langosta Beach Resort and you will have full access to the beach, minus the lounge chairs. The beach serves in a way, as a semi private beach for its guests. One thing I really enjoy about this beach are the beach chairs provided by the resort, and the volleyball net that they allowed me and my friends to use without actually being a guest at the hotel.
One thing that I especially loved about this beach was taking a walk North towards Tamarindo, and you will have to pass over a section of massive rocks creating a small cliff (maybe 5-8 feet), and if you peer over these cliffs you can observe massive crabs going about their daily business. It was quite entertaining for the kids. Another plus is that it is super quiet, with few people, other than fellow hotel guests.
