Jaco is one of the fastest expanding beach towns of Costa Rica. This rapid expansion is due to it´s close proximity to San Jose, the capitol of Costa Rica. Jaco can be reached in under two hours by car, which makes it an attractive destination for both locals and tourists. Jaco has recently added large chains such as an Auto Mercado many of the common north American fast food restaurants. Many massive condominium complexes are currently being built such as Jaco 1.
The weather is Jaco is good year round, although there is more rain from May until November. Jaco is well known for it´s surf and many surfers from around the world come to try it out. Jaco is also well known for it´s open prostitution. Prostitution is legal in Costa Rica, however very few places make it as obvious as Jaco. Drugs are also becoming problematic in the area bringing higher crime rates along with it.
Taking people to Jaco has been hit or miss for me, with half of them loving the experience, and the other half hating it. It is best to ask people who have gone to decide whether or not you should travel to Jaco.
please send me information about jaco jobs, surfing and women please.
thank you
matt
Hello Matt,
Well, regarding jobs, I must admit we can’t be of much help. Legally you need a work permit to work here in Costa Rica, however you may be able to find a hotel or surf shop looking for an extra hand. Regarding the women, Jaco is a place with lots of prostitution. Many of the women there are working girls. This is only common in Jaco and Tamarindo.
The surf however, is really what Jaco is all about. It is one of the only places where you can surf year round. If you are looking for a great instructor, just let us know.
Hey!!we are two women that are planning to go to jaco for a couple of months…n e tips??:) is it difficult to find a small job so we can survive?:)what about appartments?we just want to work, party and relax for a couple of months and we’ve been told that jaco is the place…thank you very much!!:)
Hey!! Going to jaco in a month for a week or two, i’l be staying in a condo at vista mar for the first week then if i stay, who knows, but was looking for some advice on places to eat, drink, and have fun in jaco and the places to avoid, can anyone help me out with a little advice, it would b appreciated
Hey Donovan, I was just in Jaco a few months ago. I had a great time there. I guess the biggest advice I have is for you to stay out of Beatle Bar. This place was infested with prostitutes!!! My friend and I spent about 15 minutes in there and were approached by at least 5 different ladies of the night. We are in our mid 30’s, however, the majority of the men in there were well over 40! And surprise surprise, there were no American women to be found in that place. We had a much better time staying closer to the downtown area. Once you go over the bridge past Subway you really start to see a different Jaco.
Sorry Nenss, no info on jobs. But like I said, we had a blast in Jaco and strongly recommend you going there!!!
hey steven thanks for the info, i had read some things about beatle bar and me and my two mates aren’t looking hook up with pros. but female vacationers like ourselves would be nice to hang out with. if not then we’ll just enjoy the sun and sea. does anyone have any advice on the loose or strict drugs laws there. we may choose to smoke a bit, but what can you get away with? and what will surely get you in trouble?
