Costa Rica is Happiest Place on Earth

According to recent surveys, Costa Rica has been named the happiest place on Earth, based on both people’s general happiness and the environment. Costa Rica has always been known as one of the top places on earth in terms of environmental protection and sustainability, but now proof is out that this also has quite the impact on he people living here.

The fact that nine of the top ten countries are all from Latin America America, makes you wonder if this is related to the year round beautiful weather. I know having lived in Canada, and being locked up five months out of every year definitely had its toll on me. Since moving to Costa Rica, my personal level of happiness has skyrocketed.

Another vital statistic is that Costa Ricans have the second highest life expectancy, second only to Canada, with a life expectancy of 78 years. Such findings should have a large impact on an already booming tourism industry, as people choose to travel to Costa Rica to find out what all of the fuss is about. What isn’t mentioned in any article that I have read, is that Costa Rica is also the only country on the list that has abolished its army. I believe not having an army, not taking part in any wars or conflicts, as well as not having any civil unrest have huge impacts on Costa Ricans.

All in all, this is a special country, and really a one of a kind place on earth. Just that fact that very few Costa Ricans I’ve spoken to even know about this incredible finding, shows just how humble and beautiful the Costa Rican people really are.
