Amon Amarth – Viking Metal comes to Costa Rica

As of March 25th 2009 the Swedish band, Amon Amarth, confired their upcoming concert in Costa Rica. The band is to play May 16th 2009 at The City in San Jose. The concert is set to begin at 8pm. This concert is part of their new tour Twilight of the Thunder God, and they are coming to Costa Rica thanks to Black Line. This will also be the first time that Costa Rica plays host to this famous Euro band. Costa Rica is becoming a popular choice for metal bands as large acts such as Iron Maiden continue to book live shows here.
Amon Amarth is the biggest Viking Metal Band of the moment and this should be an excellent show for all metal heads. Amon Amarth base’s their music on Norse Mythology and pre-Christian times. The bands lead singer Johan Hegg made the following comment during an interview with The Metal Web
“ We play death metal. We write about vikings so, therefore, some refer us to viking metal, but I have no idea what that is. I can’t imagine the viking’s [sic] veer into metal at all except on the swords and stuff. And musically, I guess they only played these strange lip instruments and some bongos or whatever. „

Tickets for the show can be purchased at New Order Tattoo in Heredia, Legacy, Tattoo Black Line in Tibas, Manchester in San Ramon, Disco Cisma in Alajuela and Librera Rojas in Cartago. Ticket prices are 14 000 colones before May 1st , 15 000 colones up to May 15th and 18 000 colones the day of the show. There will also be VIP tickets are available for 30 000. Mundo Loco 2009 in Costa Rica

The Mundo Loco festival is a one of a kind event in Costa Rica. Mundo Loco is a large event that promotes environmental causes and mixes the message with a large array of international artists. This years main focus is on the short supply of drinking water and the desperate need to save it. Mundo Loco in Costa Rica will be taking place in La Guacima in the Autodroma, which they have renamed the Bosque for the weekend. This is the same location where the imperial festivals take place each year in Costa Rica.

This festival is similar to a mix of Woodstock with electronic music. Mundo Loco is attended mostly by Costa Ricans and has been growing among the locals as something to call their own. Due to this being such a small country, with such a small population (around 4 million), large international festivals are few and far between.

The festival is on April 4th and the doors open at 10am. It is not always a good idea to drive to a festival in Costa Rica, but la Guacima is definitely the premiere event center in the country with the capacity to hold over 1500 cars. Car races are the usual attraction of the Autodrome, but the race track also serves as a massive parking lot for such events. Early bird tickets go for 10 000 colones at any of the Vertigo stores, and the door tickets will go for 11 000 colones. A free CD will be handed out to the first 1000 people arriving to Mundo Loco 2009.

Armin Van Buuren in Costa Rica

Armin Van Buuren will be in concert on March 26th in Torre Geko. This will be Armin Van Buuren’s first show in Costa Rica. His show will be the third installment of a week filled with the World’s top DJ’s. Deep Dish will be performing on March 21st in Vertigo, followed by David Guetta on the 24th of March. Davids Guetta will also be spinning in Torre Geko.

Armin Van Buuren is currently the World’s top ranked DJ by Dj Mag. Armin Van Buuren hails from the Netherlands and is considered by most as the World’s top Trance DJ. He recently surpassed Paul Van Dyk for the World’s top spot.

Armin Van Buuren promises to give Costa Ricans a party they will never forget. His high energy Trance ensures everyone will keep dancing all night long. Armin Van Buuren’s style differs very much from that of Tiesto and Paul Van Dyk, who tend to go a little more trancy than him. Armin Van Buuren is also the host on the World’s best Trance show, A State of Trance. His weekly sets are a staple for any DJ that spins Trance and wants to hear the latest and best tracks.

Although many consider Trance to be dead, Armin Van Buuren claims it has never been stronger, and he asks anyone to look at DJ Mag’s top 100 list if they do not agree with his assessment. This is a controversial statement, as research has proven that most voters also frequent large scale festivals, where Trance is usually the main draw, whereas House music is now the number one choice for Clubs around the World.

David Guetta – Show is Canceled

David Guetta will be performing in Costa Rica on March 24th, 2009. This will be the second major DJ to perform in the span of four days. The party is being organized by Club Oblique, although he will not be performing there. The location has yet to be decided, but rumors suggest it will be at Torre Gecko. This should be one of the better parties in Costa Rica this year for those who enjoy house music.

We have just learned that the show has been canceled and that everyone needs to call MIDAS at 2237.4237 to get information about how to get your refund. We will keep you updated on the latest news. There are rumors that this show may go on in Vertigo on Tuesday.

Le Grand Cirque in Costa Rica

Dubfire of Deep Dish will be performing at Vertigo in Costa Rica on March 21st, 2009. This show will follow Sharam´s performance at Palmares. This will be the first Deep Dish concert in Costa Rica since Vertigo has renovated their club. Getting married in Costa Rica is not difficult, but like most foreign countries, requires quite a bit of paperwork. A lawyer will be appointed to handle all the legalities to make your marriage legal in Costa Rica and your home country. The following papers need to be presented at least one month in advance of your arrival to ensure a smooth and stress-free wedding day.

What are the most common mistakes before the wedding?

Without a doubt, the most common mistake is getting the proper documentation for marital status and birth certificates. You will need to have these documents approve by the Costa Rican Embassy in the country where you reside. You will also need to get these documents translated by the Embassy. What ever you do, do not wait until the last moment to do this.

What do you need to bring?

Full name of both Bride and Groom, first, middle and last. No initials will be accepted.

Huge Music Festival

Costa Rica is getting ready for one of the biggest music festivals in the history of the country. It is amazing to see the rapid growth of the live music act scene here in the country. The festival is called Festival Imperial and is sponcered by the largest brewing company in the country. The festival will be divided in two days and the acts will be as followed.
