As of March 25th 2009 the Swedish band, Amon Amarth, confired their upcoming concert in Costa Rica. The band is to play May 16th 2009 at The City in San Jose. The concert is set to begin at 8pm. This concert is part of their new tour Twilight of the Thunder God, and they are coming to Costa Rica thanks to Black Line. This will also be the first time that Costa Rica plays host to this famous Euro band. Costa Rica is becoming a popular choice for metal bands as large acts such as Iron Maiden continue to book live shows here.
Amon Amarth is the biggest Viking Metal Band of the moment and this should be an excellent show for all metal heads. Amon Amarth base’s their music on Norse Mythology and pre-Christian times. The bands lead singer Johan Hegg made the following comment during an interview with The Metal Web
“	We play death metal. We write about vikings so, therefore, some refer us to viking metal, but I have no idea what that is. I can’t imagine the viking’s [sic] veer into metal at all except on the swords and stuff. And musically, I guess they only played these strange lip instruments and some bongos or whatever.	„

Tickets for the show can be purchased at New Order Tattoo in Heredia, Legacy, Tattoo Black Line in Tibas, Manchester in San Ramon, Disco Cisma in Alajuela and Librera Rojas in Cartago. Ticket prices are 14 000 colones before May 1st , 15 000 colones up to May 15th and 18 000 colones the day of the show. There will also be VIP tickets are available for 30 000. For more information you can check out Amon Amarth’s website.
If you truly love metal then this is a concert that you won’t want to miss. It is sure to be a spectacular event here in Costa Rica. Metal 4ever from Costa Rica’s biggest metal head!

A few important things to remember when meeting men in Costa Rica…..

Latin men in general do not like possessive and/or obsessive behavior. Although many (not all, luckily for me) of them themselves have characteristics such as these, they tend not to appreciate this type of behavior.

Families in Latin America are much closer than many of our typical families in the North. It is still very common for single men to still live at home; many do until they are married. That being said, parents and other family members have much more “pull” than which we may be accustomed to. Not only will you need to win the heart of your man but that of his family as well.

Education in Costa Rica is very important to everyone. The majority of men will have a higher education, and do not like it when we mention that they could get paid more for what they do where we come from. They are almost always quite happy with the life that they have built for themselves thus far. Unless they mention their desire to experience what the North has to offer (very possible), it is best not to mention this.

Generally men are used to being taken care of. Women in Latin America (particularly older generations, but still many of the younger) were raised with the notion that the women takes care of the man. This means that many men do not know how to cook or clean. Maybe they know how to, but just prefer for this to be done for them.

They love a woman that really knows how to cook and take control of the house. Basically take over mom’s job and he will be happy. Men also love a woman that takes care of herself. Latin women are always well dressed, made up and look very sexy. No conservativeness here, show off what you have but don’t be too flashy either, that will only attract the wrong kind of man. Be classy, sexy and natural at the same time.

Men are looking for someone different, not like the typical girls that they are always with. Happy, fun, adventurous, and carefree, but at the same time they want you to be caring, affectionate, and generous. Latin women are all of these things too but from some men, they can be too possessive, jealous and controlling. So I have been told anyways.

Traveling with children can definitely start and finish your vacation off in chaos. By considering how your travel plans will affect your children and take all those aspects into consideration you can however make your trip a much more enjoyable one for everyone. Since the beginning and end of a vacation can break your memory of all of the great things that happened in the middle, the airport seems like a great place to start.

Things to consider when traveling with infants and toddlers

Always leave yourself plenty of time at the airport for check-in and connecting flights. Consider how much longer it took you to pack and how much longer it takes you to do anything once becoming a parent, expect that you will always need extra time and then some just to be sure. You will be less likely to stress or panic in situations knowing that you are not in a hurry.

When checking in, ask if the flight is full. If not you can request to have a vacant seat next to you, something that is particularly valuable when traveling with infants and children under 2 especially when there is limited space and you have not purchased a seat for your baby.

If you are unsure as to whether or not you will need to purchase the extra seat for the car seat consider this. If you are planning on traveling by car at your destination you are going to need the car seat anyways. Although many car rental companies offer car seats for rent you never know what condition the seat is going to be in. Not all countries have the same regulations that we are accustomed to, and the seats may not be safe at all. However, you can still forgo purchasing the extra ticket, as many airlines will transport the seat below as part of your luggage. Check with you airline carrier for more details.

Try to stick to your daily sleep routine as much as possible during the flight. It may be easier to travel on the cheaper red-eye flights that way you and your children can sleep en route and hopefully arrive at your destination well rested. If this will not work for you and your family then try to book a flight that will cross “naptime”, this way at least you can hope for some needed quiet time during the flight.

Make use of your umbrella stroller. Many flights will allow them onboard, which means that you get to use them right up to the point when you board your flight and they are also there for you right when you get off. They will not only make your transfers that much faster but it will also make your time in the waiting lounge a bit easier as well. They will also serve you well during your trip, acting as both carrier and a highchair when needed. Their compactness makes them easier to use in many Central and South American destinations in comparison to the bulkier and much heavier strollers, especially when wandering the markets and narrow sidewalks.

Another excellent tool to remember is your baby carrier or sling. This too will make many tasks much easier for you while en route. Although many airlines do not allow you to use them during flights, just imagine the possibilities of being hands free at the airport!!! The check-in process can be that much easier and don’t forget collecting your luggage after as well. This is a must have, especially if you are bringing the heavy duty stroller which must be checked-in with the rest of your luggage.

Try to get your children changed and comfortable while waiting to board the flight. Not only will the restrooms at the airport be more comfortable then those on the plane but you will have much more space in which to complete the task.

For infants, it is best to either bottle or breast feed them during take-off and landing, as this will help their ears adjust to the changes in cabin pressure. This may save your sanity and the disgruntled looks that other passengers may send your way. I always try and ignore those passengers but it is not always as easy as it seems.

Make sure that you pack plenty of your children’s favorite toys and books for flights. You can save some of their stories onto your iPod as audio books, that way you may be able to take a 5 minute breather. You can also visit your local dollar store before the trip and purchase some inexpensive toys and craft ideas for your flight. You can also make this more entertaining by wrapping up the toys like gifts and using them throughout your flight as rewards.

Be sure to pack a change of clothes for you and your children as nobody wants to arrive covered in food, milk or even worse.

If traveling with your partner you may want to consider booking your seats apart from one another as this will give one of you the opportunity to rest while the other one entertains the children. Make sure to be fair and take turns!!!

Consider all of the above points and how they can be incorporated into your travel routine. They could mean the difference between loving or loathing traveling with your family. While the trip there and back may not be as great as being at your destination hopefully it won’t prevent you from wanting to take next years family vacation.
Getting married in Costa Rica is not difficult, but like most foreign countries, requires quite a bit of paperwork. A lawyer will be appointed to handle all the legalities to make your marriage legal in Costa Rica and your home country. The following papers need to be presented at least one month in advance of your arrival to ensure a smooth and stress-free wedding day.

What are the most common mistakes before the wedding?

Without a doubt, the most common mistake is getting the proper documentation for marital status and birth certificates. You will need to have these documents approve by the Costa Rican Embassy in the country where you reside. You will also need to get these documents translated by the Embassy. What ever you do, do not wait until the last moment to do this.

What do you need to bring?

Full name of both Bride and Groom, first, middle and last. No initials will be accepted.
Original Passport
Birthplace
Address
Occupation
Marital status-if divorced you will need to provide a copy of the divorce decree. If the Bride has been divorced for less than 12 months, she must present a negative pregnancy test to the nearest Costa Rican consulate for authentication.
Parents’ names and occupation
Parents’ address
Birth Certificate

Witnesses

Costa Rican law requires two witnesses to sign the necessary documents. If you are traveling with friends they may act as your witnesses, however, immediate family members are not allowed to act as witnesses. Your witnesses will need to supply the following information:

Full name, no initials
Date and place of birth
Current address
Passport number and nationality
Marital status

Read up on where you are staying

Many times the quickest and easiest way to save money is to read up on where you are traveling. Pick up a travel guide to whichever city or country you are visiting to find out where the best deals can be found. Also, make sure to find out where the tourist traps are and stay far away from them.

Get a free room upgrade

Naturally it will be much easier to accomplish this if you travel during low season. Make sure to ask for a room upgrade before they hand you your room key. It is best to ask right away. Remember, the only way to receive this is by asking kindly. Tell them it is a special occasion such as an anniversary to increase your chances of your request being approved.

Find out what a Coca Cola costs

Try to find out how much a Coca Cola costs in the country you are traveling. The reason for this is that it will help you gage whether or not the places you are visiting are trying to rip you off. The best bet is to go to a grocery store as they rarely inflate prices.

Find a local travel agent

Don´t be afraid to contact a travel agent in the area to help you plan your trip. Travel agents can help organize your trip to make things go smoothly and to help you coordinate everything to maximize your fun. A travel agent can also point you in the right direction regarding the best and most economical places to see in the area. Travel agents receive commissions from hotels and activity providers and often times will share their savings with you as long as you book through them.

Find a friend

In today´s world, it has become very easy to meet people throughout the world. This could prove to be the single best way to save money as new friendships could potentially lead to very valuable information and possibly even a free homestay. Of course, this works best when traveling as a couple for safety reasons.

Here is a simple list to ensure that your current or next trip to Central America goes smoothly.

1.	Leave your passport somewhere safe and travel with a photocopy
2.	Do not exchange money at the border or airport. You will always get a better rate at a local or national bank
3.	Brush up on your basic Spanish prior to traveling, especially for directions
4.	Do not bring any flashy jewelry
5.	Be respectful of local customs such as leaving your shoes on in a household
6.	Do not rely heavily on travelers cheques as very few merchants accept these
7.	Stay in hotels that have a security safe in your room for the safe keeping of your valuables.
8.	Always ask a taxi driver to turn on his meter when applicable
9.	Ask you travel agent to give you more information regarding your security and well being.

Often times newbies feel a need to include many high tech special features such and Java Script to boost the look of their sites. Problem is, these effects are not readable by most search engines and might end up hurting your search results in the long run. It is best to keep your homepage clean and simple and to concentrate on your keywords.

2.	Domain Name

It is normal to want your company name to match your domain name, but unless you own a recognizable name this could end up seriously effecting your success online. Internet users have become experts at finding what they are looking for and quickly, and will most surely bypass your link if they do not recognize anything. So what can you do? Try putting your keywords in your domain to increase the chances of someone clicking on your link. If someone is searching for Costa Rica Travel and your domain name is www.costa-rica-travel-and-vacations.com there is a good chance they will feel that your site will lead them to a page that specializes in what they are looking for.

3.	Too much talking, not enough selling

It is very understandable to feel as though you need to talk about who your company is and what it is you do. Reality is, people do not really care. Have a section on your site for that information, but tuck it away somewhere. Use your prime spaces for selling your product, not talking about it. If you can come up with an amazing offer, people will buy it, no matter what your company name is.

4.	Hire a Pro!

It may be the most obvious of all, but if you want people to take your site seriously, you have to show them that you take it seriously by hiring a real pro to design a clean and attractive site that will be user friendly and load quickly.

5.	Make backups of everything

This is definitely the easiest mistake to prevent. However, no matter how often it is said, most people starting out think to themselves that losing all of their hard work would never happen to them. The last thing you will want is to start over after an unfortunate event.
